Clinkerdagger in Spokane, Washington

Maybe the witness had a bad night... but she got the drink order wrong... gave my daughter a strawberry lemonade instead of tea and only flavored the tea once just kept on filing our glasses with regular tea. We had to ask for the flavoring on the side. We hadn't visited in a while and we remembered why... overt priced for the quality of food. Dessert was great! When we plan to fine dine again, we will choose another place... so sad, wish it would have been different.... glad we had a coupon... would have been very disappointed had we paid full price :(

This was our first trip to Clinkerdagger and probably our last one. This is our second year in Spokane and we've been making a tour of the town's high end steak houses. We had a hard time finding this place. It's in a building called the Flour Mill but that information is nowhere to be found on the website, so if you're from out of town keep that in mind. Depending on where you get seated you may have a great view of the Spokane River. That's a definite plus. The decor is on the rustic side with a lot of wood beams and such. It was pretty full when we were there and it gets pretty noisy. The service was slow and inattentive. When we made our order we were told that there would be bread "coming right out." Coming right out meant that I had to flag our server down after a long wait and ask them "Did you say that we would get some bread?" We did finally get it just moments before our entrees arrived. We each had the 10oz filet. The dinners come with a choice of potatoes and some vegetables. There was a small dollop of mashed potatoes on my plate an a medley of vegetables. These were competently cooked. You could taste the grill on the steak at times which wasn't all that pleasant. I also ordered the prawns add on to the steak and this was the best part of the meal. They were delicious, served on a bed of buttery grits. I don't even like grits all that much but these were very good. For dessert we had a strawberry cobbler which I thought was a bit tart but my partner really enjoyed. All of the portions were on the small side. In the end there's nothing horrible about Clinkerdagger but nothing really great either. Service was inattentive, the food was average at best (except for the prawns), the portions were smallish, and the room was loud but had some nice views.
